First patent on a toilet

Among the early inventors of toilet designs, Thomas Crapper is famous for this quality bath, toilet, and sink showroom. Still, the first patent for a flush toilet was granted to inventor Alexander Cumming. The Scottish inventor was smart enough to add the S-shaped pipe (S-trap) below the bowl. This design helped to prevent sewer gas by creating a water seal in the bowl. Alex was a watchmaker and instrument inventor and got the patent in 1775, by improving the design of Sir John Harington, which had the problem of foul smell and flush mechanism.
